Here's How to Transition From Hair Loss to a Full Head of Hair.

April 24, 2018

Hair loss can have a profoundly negative impact on your quality of life. It can be totally debilitating. Eroding confidence, damaging self esteem, causing worry and frustration. Suddenly you're avoiding social situations, endlessly researching the best hair loss remedies & hair growth treatments and hiding your thinning under hats 24/7. Traditional hair loss treatments such as FUE hair transplants are invasive and costly. The use of cover ups like Toppik and medications like Rogaine and Regaine are high maintenance and require a long term commitment of time and money.

New breakthrough technologies in hair replication, offer non surgical, undetectable, affordable hair replacement solutions that can turn back time and change lives overnight. In a matter of hours, Scalp Micropigmentation can give you the appearance of a full head of hair, that will last up to 10 years with minimal maintenance. Semi Permanent Hair Pieces made from 100% human hair, actually appear to grow directly out of your scalp.  They're securely bonded to your scalp so you can swim, surf and gym in these perfectly colour matched units. Thirty days on then a quick 30 minute clean, re-bond and you're back in business for another 30 days.

Surely with all of the hair loss solutions available today every man can find a way to reclaim their youth, style and spirit. But no. Despite a desperate need to address their thinning crown, many are still driven to inaction, by the uncertainty of how those around them will react to their new look. The fear of disapproval, hurtful banter or outright judgement from mates and loved ones, is enough to sentence some to a lifetime of hair loss unhappiness. Some would rather play it safe and live with the worry  and frustration that comes with male pattern baldness.

Scott Hickman is the founder of Replique Clinic, Brisbane's hair replication experts. Scott says "I tell my clients it's normal to feel nervous. Changing your hairline will change your life. But for some transitioning is just too scary. It's a shame. Replique can give you an undetectable full head of natural hair, but we can't deal with the reactions of others for you. "

So how do you go from hair loss to full head of hair?

Scott & Replique have put together some strategies to help with this transformation.

1. Place the people in your life into two groups; (1) those that will support you and (2) those that may react negatively. At this point acknowledge that the supporters usually far out way the naysayers.

2. Determine exactly what you think each non supporter may do or say, and decide if you really care about each possible reaction. If upon reflection their reaction doesn't really bother you, consider that person dealt with. You'll be surprised how many don't really matter once you've pre-empted them.

This leaves you with those whose opinions you do care about, who you think may not support your hair loss treatment.

3. Get prepared. Work out a strategy for disarming everyone who is left.

Strategies include:

  • Decide not to care. Regardless of what they say or do, don't let it bother you. Don't react, Don't analyse. Just choose not to care.

  • Tell them over the phone rather than in person.

  • Secure their support before you see them. Explain how you think they'll react and ask them not to. Let them know what their support would mean to you.

  • Boost your confidence and prepare yourself by spending time with your supporters first.

  • When fronting up to those your worried about, have supporters with you to lessen the impact of any negativity.

  • Or see the non supporters when there's no-one else with you to react for.

  • Have a polite retaliation ready. For example, ask them why they're threatened by your new look? Ask them if they are worried about their own hair loss?

  • Give them the cold hard facts. Twenty percent of men in their 20's, 30% in their 30's & 50% of men above 40 have some level of hair loss to deal with.

  • Wear a hat for a few weeks before you transition.

  • Grow your facial hair and shave it off before your debut your new look.

4. Just do it! You're as ready as you can be. Back yourself and be your best you.

If you are suffering from hair loss and are worried about how others will react, stop thinking about them. Think about yourself. How amazing would it feel to run your fingers through your hair whilst smiling at your reflection each morning. Imagine posting proud selfies instead of food and pet pics. It's time to decide your worth it. Accept the challenge, plan how to deal with the haters and journey towards your hair loss transformation.

Scott from Replique Clinic confirms, "There are simply too many excellent hair replication treatments available to put up with the misery of slowly losing your hair. You can't control what other people think, so why let the fear of their reaction control you? Replique's hair replication services are changing men's lives everyday. Not one client, who initially wavered has said, in hindsight I wish I hadn't done this. However so many have said I wish I'd done this sooner."
