FEMALE ALOPECIA
Hair loss is a LOSS! For many of us who experience this, it can be crushing and take away our sense of identity, youthfulness and even a sense of power.
So many of my female clients who visit my in our Brisbane Hair replacement salon, who are experiencing female pattern baldness or alopecia, tell me that that haven’t been to a salon in years because it brings up such negative emotions.
While Replique started primarily to help men with Male Pattern Baldness, we love helping our female clients to regain back their confidence and amazing hair.
Female hair loss can be prompted from several reasons, hormonal changes, due to chemotherapy, genetics and very frequently, from Alopecia, where the hair grows in small clumps or falls out randomly.
While Male Pattern Baldness often commences at the hairline and crown then merges. Many females experiencing Alopecia don’t have the hairline to crown fall, often their hair loss commences primarily at the top of the scalp and then graduates down wards.

There are several different forms of Alopecia:
Telogen Effuvium: While concerning, this is a short term hair loss, often prompted by trauma, illness, childbirth or other significant stress. This is where a large number of hairs shed simultaneously.
Traction Alopecia: This is where the hair follicle is stressed by overuse in braids, hair extensions, ponytails or dreadlocks.
Cicatrical Alopecias: This isn’t as common as other forms of Alopecia hair loss and is where the follicle is destroyed and replaced by scar tissue.
Alopecia Areata: This is an autoimmune condition where the follicles are attacked by the body’s immune system. Falling under this category is Alopecia Totalis where the scalp is affected and also Alopecia Universalis, where the hair all over the body is affected.

Many people react to their hair loss in different ways. Some simply accept it as a part of life and either embrace or tolerate the situation.
I have some female clients who wear their Replique toppers occasionally and at other times are happy to rock a beautiful bald head.
Others (like me!) are quite traumatised by their hair loss and look for different ways to remedy or disguise the alopecia or baldness.
So what are the hair replacement options for women with Alopecia?
It's very important to know that Replique is about Hair replacement, not hair regrowth. As someone who lost his hair as a teenager, Ive tried so many pills and potions and nothing worked for me. but as soon as I started wearing toppers and hair pieces, my life and confidence changed.
Many females with Alopecia with choose to wear a wig. these are amazing and have come so far. Be they synthetic or human hair, these wigs may have a lace front or made with full poly and are great for women who want to wear their hair replacement occasionally.
Replique specialise in fully bonded hair loss solutions, these are toppers or hair pieces (there's a blog on the difference here). Some of our clients prefer to have them clipped in, but most love the idea of their hair toper being semi permanent, so they can sleep, swim and shower in them.

Our fully bonded human hair toppers are either bonded to the scalp with hair piece tape, which is amazing for our humid summers. Or we also use a medial grade adhesive that can actually be adhered to hair, so we dont need to shave the clients hair off.
