Frontal Fibrosing Alopecia FFA
How a Replique Topper can bring back your Hairline & Confidence
Hair loss can come in many different patterns. For men with Male Pattern Baldness, it is traditionally from the hairline with recession, and then thinning at the crown, and over time it merges so that there is only hair growing at the sides and back of the scalp.
For women with hair loss, they may be suffering due to hormonal changes, genetics or have a condition such as Alopecia, where hair doesn’t grow at all, or grows in inconsistent patterns.
I did a hair replacement consultation recently in our Brisbane salon for a wonderful woman who was experiencing Frontal Fibrosing Alopecia, she had abundant hair from the crown back to the nape of the neck, and also at the sides of her scalp, but had a very recessed hairline.
She had tried many different wigs and toppers, but they either covered too much, or too little of the scalp. The wigs, looked amazing but she really didn’t need the coverage they provided. The toppers added wonderful volume to the crown, but failed to address her hairline.

We are very excited to have worked with her for a topper that incorporates a fuller hairline, and also adds some volume to the crown to help blend. We had choices on using a lace front or polyurethane hairline and chose the second option.
While we love lace fronts! Our client really wanted the ability to take the topper on and off each day. We are using Performance Plus Super tape at the hairline and she will be able to remove the topper each night and then reuse the tape each morning. The rest of the topper is adhered with small clips.
There’s no “one size fits all” solution with hair replacement or hair loss, and finding a tailored solution can be very difficult but we are thrilled to have been able to find a solution for our beautiful client.
This amazing hairline is bonded with tape, while the rest of the topper is clipped in.
