Bonded Toppers:
“I didn’t know this existed! I thought a wig was my only option!”
I hear this so often when doing consults with my female hair loss clients, who discover the freedom and security of a bonded topper.
A topper is very similar to hair extensions, except where human hair extensions are positioned at the back of the scalp, a toper is placed on top, often at the crown area and hair from the hairline is drawn back to help blend.
Toppers come in a range of base types, from lace and Mono to Poly or Skin bases and then there are hybrid such as poly perimeter with lace in the middle.
The most popular sizes are 5.5 inches wide x 6.5 from front to back. They are traditionally clipped into the hair with small clips so they feel secure.
A lot of our Australian female hair loss clients come to our Brisbane and Sydney salons for consultations, and think that a wig is the only suitable hair loss solution for them.
Wigs are great, but they often feel heavier and can be uncomfortable to wear, where as a topper can integrate with a client’s own hair to add volume and length.
Wigs are designed for full hair coverage and traditionally have lace fronts that can be bonded with wig and hair piece tape or glue.
Replique believes in “Hair Replacement Made Easy” and so our hair loss solutions are often semi-permanent, in that they can be worn like your own hair for up to a month, then the need to be removed, clean and rebounded or reapplied for another month.
Other clients prefer to remove them each night, we have great options for women with thinning or receded hair, where the hairline is polyurethane and the body is lace and the hairline can be bonded with adhesive while the rest of the body is adhered with clips.

One of the reasons for this is that the tape and glue is designed for the scalp, not for hair.
But Replique is proud to be using an Italian based medical Grade Adhesive that can be glued onto the hair, allowing the clients hair to continue to grow. We gently remove the bonded topper with special solvent, clean it then rebond for another month.
